If life is compared to a flight, my time at the Dongguk Post was like racing down the runway, an essential moment for a smooth journey. To build a better future, one needs the ability to read the paradigm of the era. Experiences in the Dongguk Post have enhanced the resolution of the world around me. Writing in English was more than practice in composition; it provided an opportunity to understand diverse perspectives and to think more deeply about global issues.

As a reporter, I cared the most about the structure and flow of my articles. I balanced the arrangement of paragraphs, aiming to write articles that are easy to read. In the process, I used the key subheadings to reveal an analytical viewpoint. I learned the importance of clarity over splendid ornate. Compressing the content to highlight the thesis and primary argument is challenging. Therefore, I developed a sense by observing the perspectives and expressions of various foreign media outlets.

The most memorable moment during the activities was gazing at the sparkling Han River after completing the interview for the 453rd newspaper and returning home late from Yeouido. Having the opportunity of receiving advice from alums was a rare experience. I also remember the joy on my parents’ faces when I showed them my business card and handed them the first paycheck in an envelope. In addition, whenever people around me told me that the article was helpful, I felt fulfilled, because without the readers, there is no newspaper.

I also realized the importance of time management. After submitting an article, it felt like a storm plowed through me, like running out of fuel. Engaging in many activities often made me reach the limit of my stamina. However, I prioritized my responsibilities at the Dongguk Post, learning to use my time effectively. It was necessary to focus on the tasks at hand and handle each day faithfully.

Notably, learning the value of teamwork and collaboration was one of the significant achievements. I learned a lot by coordinating opinions and moving toward common goals. With my colleagues, we thought about the role and direction of paper newspapers in the advent of the digital age. The newspapers needed a new wave. Collaborating with the school broadcasting station, DUBS, was an interesting win-win event. These experiences will surely be beneficial in my future life.

I aspire to have a mindset that lights up the dark world. Even if there are storms and clouds, I will safely complete my flight based on the knowledge I gained at the Dongguk Post. I thank the 56th team of fellow reporters and all the seniors and juniors for giving me unforgettable memories. May the endless progress be with the Dongguk Post. Stay tuned for more to come. Cleared for take-off, and here I go!
