As a reporter for the Dongguk Post, my two-year journey from Cub Reporter to Editor-in-Chief is nearing towards the end. When I first joined the Dongguk Post, I did not have any confidence in writing. In particular, the beginning was full of fear, ahead of worries about writing articles in English.

I still remember the first time I visited to the office. I felt frozen in the orientation with reporters from the 55th and 56th generations that I saw for the first time in an unfamiliar space. It was attractive to do everything from reporting to publishing newspapers by working directly, but I was worried about whether I could manage it. However, from the process of brainstorming items to write and planning articles, I was immersed in newspapers and was able to write articles.

One of the most memorable experiences was interviewing and covering one of the alumni, Kang Young-hyun. As a big fan of DAY6 since middle school, it was a great honor to share his story. Although it was a written interview, I was happy to learn more about Kang Young- hyun through the interview. I also enjoyed covering Kang young-hyun’s stage at the school festival. These experiences led to a great sense of accomplishment, and it was a moment when I grateful to have taken part of the Dongguk Post

As I became Editor-in-Chief through my reporter career, I had one goal, to change one thing before I leave the Dongguk Post. With the development of digital media reducing the frequency of students accessing newspapers, I wanted to bring new changes to the Dongguk Post. I thought deeply about the value of the existence of English newspapers and the direction to move forward. In the hope that more Donggukians will have easy access to English newspapers, I have pushed for a collaboration with Dongguk University Broadcasting System, DUBS. Through this, I was able to gain experience in video editing and planning by producing videos. Since I was usually interested in the broadcasting field, it was a meaningful experience to be able to try various things through this opportunity. I would not say the result was the best, but I am still proud that I have set the stage for change.

It feels like I wrote the debut essay few days ago, and I cannot believe I am already writing a swan song. The two years of reporter that passed so quickly added great significance to my school life. My responsibility as an Editor-in-Chief sometimes weighed on my shoulders, but I also thank my fellow reporters for making up for my shortcomings. Thanks to the 55th journalists who helped me grow into a Post Reporter and the 56th and 57th journalists who believed in me and followed my steps as Editor-in-Chief, I was able to end my term well. I adore the Dongguk Post so much since it contains my growth process from a Cub Reporter to an Editor-in-Chief. Based on this experience, I will try to become a better person in the future. Goodbye the Dongguk Post!
