Dongguk University professors’ research team have shown remarkable results, winning awards in various f ields or bei ng published i n academic journals. The Dongguk Post would like to introduce them. On November 2nd, Choi Min-jae, a professor of chemical and biological engineering at Dongguk University, was selected as the winner of the “2024 POSCO Science Fellowship” sponsored by the POSCO Cheongam Foundation. He showed the excellence of his research by publishing several papers in internationally renowned journals such as Nature Communications and Advanced Materials in the field of quantum dots and nano-materials. Accordingly, he was recognized by the POSCO Science Fellowship for the originality and potential of photoelectrochemical reaction research based on quantum dot materials. Quantum dots are attracting attention as next-generation materials in various fields such as medical devices and energy conversion as well as displays. Furthermore, Choi Bong-seok, a professor in School of Law, won the “Hongjo Geunjung medal”- A grade three medal given to a person with a clear achievement by determining his or her duties as a public official- on November 2nd in recognition of the improvement of local governments’ autonomy capabilities and competitiveness through the development of the local government law system. In particular, he has not only devoted himself academically to the development of the Korean Local Autonomy Act, but also contributed to practical contributions and fostering local autonomy law experts at Dongguk University by serving as a policy advisor to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. Finally, Professor Cho Sang-sik’ s team in Education Research Institue was selected as the “2023 Humanities and Social Research Institute Support Project Problem Solving Type” to support various studies under the theme of “Research to Create a Sustainable School Safety Ecosystem.” They said the research aims to establish school safety policies that can actively cope with rapid changes such as climate change and infectious diseases. As such, it can be seen that Dongguk University researchers are active in various fields; chemistry, law, and pedagogy. It is possible to feel that Dongguk University was able to develop further because people in various fields of academic research are working hard. Therefore, it is expected that this will have a great impact on the establishment of Dongguk University Education Research Institute as a key research institute in the field of pedagogy. In addition, the Dongguk Post hopes that the Donggukians will become alumni who contribute to the school in the future.
