Actor Kang Suk-woo (Department of Theatre and Film 77), a graduate of Dongguk University, visited the university on September 21st and donated 10 million won to its baseball team. He expressed his hope that it would be used to nurture talent within the baseball team.

During his visit, Kang remarked, “I recently watched our university’s baseball team secure an 8-0 victory on JTBC’s “Best Baseball.” That commanding win revived fond memories of my college days and spurred my decision to donate. I aim to provide ongoing support, ensuring the team’s continued success.”

In reply, Dongguk University’s President Yun Jae-woong said, “We are deeply moved by the affection demonstrated by Kang Seok-woo, our esteemed alumnus and acclaimed actor. Despite his busy schedule, it warms our hearts that he made time to visit personally, manifesting such genuine affection for his juniors.”

President Yun also invited Kang, who is diligently involved in songwriting, to lecture on cultural arts. In response, Kang shared, “Traditional songs are gradually disappearing. I am committed to reviving them through creation and performance. I would be honored to lecture at our beloved university.”

As a gesture of gratitude, Lee Gun-yeul, the coach of Dongguk University’s baseball team, engraved the donor’s name on a baseball glove.
