Dongguk University will offer breakfasts in 1,000 won to students from May 1st to November 30th. The “1,000-won Breakfast” program is at the cafeteria on the first floor of Namsan Haksa. The project will run for about an hour from 8:20 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. for 150 students on the Seoul Campus daily. To join the program, certifying students through student ID is essential. It allowed students to have a nutritious breakfast at school for a low price.

Recently, the 1,000-won breakfast program has attracted a lot of social attention. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has started the program. It aims to provide high-quality breakfast to college students and promote rice consumption in the era of high prices. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs pays half of the price.

Students can eat breakfast in 1,000 won after purchasing a meal ticket at the Namsan Haksa cafeteria. If you submit meal ticket and certify your student ID to the card reader, you can eat the onigiri menu for the day. Onigiri varies in variety every day.

Many Donggukians are satisfied with the program. Ha Jun-seo (Department of Political Science & Diplomacy 20) also visited Namsan Haksa after seeing a post shared by his friends’ Instagram Stories after eating 1000-won Breakfast. He ate twice, emphasizing that the taste and menu were very satisfactory and that the school seemed to pay attention and care to this program. He added that many students are enthusiastic about this program, so it felt like more than half of the food prepared disappeared within 10 minutes.

Until now, students have attended class immediately without breakfast, but they can eat high-quality food cheaply. After breakfast and taking classes, students can have a stronger and more energetic day. The concentration also increases. The program forms healthy eating-habits and reduces the burden of food expenses. The Dongguk Post hopes the 1,000-won breakfast program will continue to help many students who faced difficulties during inflation.
