Scene #1 When the glaring sunlight begins to be hidden by the shadow of night, the homeless around Seoul Station start to go begging."Even my own family do not regard me as a human being, which makes me reluctant to go back home. Most people just think of us as beggars on the street. We can work but society does not give us a chance to,"said a homeless who was out of work and was wandering around Seoul Station. They shouted, "the distribution of wealth is unfair and measures for the unemployed are insufficient in Korea."

Scene #2On May 1, nationwide rallies commemorating the 111th May Day were held in every city in Korea including Seoul. Workers and students asserted that the present short-sighted economic policy of the government accelerates the widening gap between the rich and the poor. They shouted, "large-scale overseas disposal by sale and government-led corporate restructuring have caused massive layoffs of workers including Dae-woo Motor's 1,752 axed workers."

According to The Korea Herald on March 16, 2001, Labor Minister Kim Ho-jin called for a "win-win" way to bring about industrial peace at domestic firms based on rules and principles. Here we should ask the question: Is corporate restructuring and massive layoffs of workers the "win-win"way for both labor and management or only for the capitalists?
