On Nov. 18, Better Korea Movement  (http://www.2002culture.or.kr) and Bright Smile Korea Campaign Headquarter (http://www.smilekorea.org) held "2002 World Cup, Bright Smile Festival" in an open-air theater at Korea University.  To open the festival, a team of Korean entertainers played a team of foreigners in a soccer game. Then, Art Company for International Culture and Peace conducted a variety of congratulation performances including chorus, dancing, Taekwondo practice, play and so on.The festival was an event for the "Bright Smile Campaign", which has five purposes: 1) To change Korea's ugly image through manner education and kindness campaign. 2) To meet 2002 World Cup smiling 3) To offer services for alienated people in our modern society 4) To achieve national reconciliation and unity through cultural and artistic performances 5) To enjoy harmonious cosmopolitanism through international interchange and service.According to the parties involved, the campaign is very interesting and unique due to the participation of common people including members and professionals from various associations of like-minded people. And a lot of students belonging national university association and teenagers are volunteering for service in this nation-wide campaign. Now, about 20 DU Chamsaram service members are also participating in the campaign and helping its event planning or marketing. Choi Jung-seok (Junior, Dept. of Education) said that about 5,000 participants will continue street-campaigning in major areas in Seoul, including Myongdong, Jongno and Gangnam every weekend. "And we have a plan to conduct a smile signature-collecting campaign for no dumping, using homemade articles and saving supplies on campus until December," he added.
