On January 5th, at the 347th board meeting in Lotus Hall, Dongguk University announced that Professor Yun Jae-woong was appointed as the university’s 20th president. President Yun begins his four-year term on March 1st. His term expires on February 28th, 2027.
Yun graduated from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Dongguk University in 1985. He received master’s and doctoral degrees in Korean literature from the graduate school of Dongguk University.
Since becoming a professor in the Department of Korean Language Education at Dongguk University in 2003, he has also worked as the head of the Strategic Public Relations Office, the Graduate School of Education, and the Dharma College of Dongguk University. In addition, he led to publish the “Dongguk’s Light” series in 2022, which contains an alumni’s story that lit up the university.
To make a better educational space, Yun proposed to renovate the BMC Campus facilities and build new dormitories. He also made an election promise to start the construction of Lotus Hall in Hye-hwa Gate. He also expressed his willingness to expand the size of school finances to 400 billion won through mergers and acquisitions. Also, he offered to raise about 100 billion won in developmental funds.
He added, “Under the vision of leading the future, Dongguk University will provide its own education that contributes to the universal value of mankind.” He also expressed his desire to strengthen Dongguk University’s competitive advantages in order to expand its global influence.
